There are so many reasons why it is important to remember your 6 month check up. Whether it is just that time or you are experiencing some problems, Maestri Family Dentistry is always ready to help you out. If you are having any unusual pain or persistent problems, don’t hesitate to stop on by! In the meantime, here are some ways to prevent the top tooth troubles to minimize your visits and keep those pearly whites shining.

  • Toothaches

Ouch! Sometimes our teeth get to hurting and we aren’t too sure why. There are a few causes of toothaches ranging from sensitivity to tooth decay. Overall, most tooth troubles happen as a result of a dental cavity and the BEST fight against decay is by taking your oral hygiene serious. Stay consistent with brushing and flossing, cut down on the sugary food, and keep up with your regularly scheduled appointments.

  • Gum Issues

Yikes! Gum issues can be extremely uncomfortable and even embarrassing. The main cause for gum inflammation guessed it...HYGIENE. But that isn’t all. Brushing and flossing is definitely an important factor but make sure that you also pay attention to your vitamin intake and nutrition.

  • Sores

Arg! A canker sore can be one of the most pesky tooth troubles to deal with. A lot of people think they just pop up to ruin your day but SURPRISE...there is a science behind preventing them. A few things you can do to stop those bad boys is to chew carefully, cut back on eating acidic or extremely spicy foods, lower your stress or anxiety levels!

These are just a few of the major mouth issues that people worry about. There are many more. Any time you are unsure about what's going on in there, set your appointment with Maestri Family Dentistry and let us help you figure it all out!

Get Your Quality Sleep Back Again

The TAP®3 Elite is the newest addition to the TAP family of appliances for the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

What is TAP?

Based on the same principle as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the TAP (Thornton Adjustable Positioner) was designed to keep the airway open to allow for air to pass. A constricted or collapsed airway causes snoring and OSA. The TAP device holds the lower jaw in a forward position, maintaining a clear airway to reduce snoring and improve breathing.

Each device consists of an upper and lower tray that fit over the teeth. The TAP 3 Elite features a simple hook mechanism attached to the upper tray that slides under a bar attached to the lower tray.

The Advantages of TAP 3 Elite

  • Alleviate sleep apnea
  • Reduce snoring
  • Improve patient’s sleep
  • Fit more comfortably in the mouth
  • Smaller hardware providing more room for tongue and allows lips to close
  • Allows a greater range of lateral movement
  • Offers three hook sizes for an increased range of adjustment
  • An adjustment key enables the patient to adjust the protrusion of the lower jaw while wearing the device until a comfortable and effective position is achieved.
If you or a loved one suffers from mild sleep apnea or snores at night time, the TAP could be the perfect, affordable solution. Give us a call today for more information and to set up an appointment. 337-704-2126
