Nature's Oral Health Care - Essential Oils

It is no secret that essential oils have skyrocketed in organic health care over the years. Even some of our favorite social media influencers have endorsed the oil trend: Celebs like Victoria Beckham and Kourtney Kardashian swear by essential oils and are continually referencing them in their daily care. Typically the oils are used with skincare, and relaxation, but researchers have also discovered that natural oils can be beneficial to oral health as well! It should be known that if you are pregnant or nursing, essential oils should not be used for the safety of you and your baby.

 

Which Oils to Use and How Can They Help?

There are thousands of oils out on the market now. It seems nearly impossible to know which works for you. But no worries, when it comes to your mouth, the choices are narrowed down to a few oils that have been proven to work:

 

1. Breath - Peppermint, Rosemary, & Clove

First, let's focus on fixing what might be one of the most critical components when it comes to having a healthy mouth, and that is your BREATH. Yes, essential oils can prevent unpleasant aromas from leaving your mouth. Aside from the conventional peppermint oil, there is also clove and rosemary that can rid you of the stench. One drop of any of these oils to your toothpaste and your days of death breath are over! Always be sure that your essential oil is a high quality food-grade oil that states that you can use them internally.

 

2. Stress & Anxiety - Lavender & Chamomile

Another biggie when it comes to oral health is the stress and anxiety that unwillingly comes attached to it. Finally, essential oils can even tackle oral health at its roots by taking care of your gums. A great gardener knows the source to having a flourishing flower bed starts with the soil. Well, the concept is no different when it comes to having healthy teeth. But in this case, the soil is your gums, and the flowers are your chompers!

So, which of these magic oils can reduce gum disease and eliminate lousy breath; That would be none other than Clove. Clove is a natural extract that can be added to your mouth wash or used to create exotic flavors in your next meal. There are several benefits this oil has to offer, and when it comes to fighting oral decay with a natural remedy, you can't beat it.
