It’s almost 2018 and you know what that means - New Year Resolutions! This year, don’t forget to include “Improve Dental Health” to your list because the health of your mouth plays a large part in your overall wellness. Here are a few dental care ideas to add to your resolutions list to kick start your new year!
Leave Sugary Drinks in 2017
This includes sodas, juices, and energy drinks Really, any drink high in sugar. Not only are sugary drinks bad for your dental health, they’re also damaging to your overall health. Disease-causing bacteria actually lives off of the sugar that you eat and drink. If you do enjoy a soda every once in a while, don’t sip on it throughout the day and make sure to rinse with water afterwards.
Eat More Orally Healthy Foods
While you’re cutting out sugar, also resolve to add more dental friendly foods to your diet to put the cherry on top! Snack on foods that are high in calcium and protein to keep your dental health in tip-top shape like cheese, yogurt, and plant milk. Calcium helps build the strength and health of the overall health of your mouth.
Drink Plenty of Water
Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to not only stay properly hydrated, but to maintain your dental health and your body as a whole. Water rinses away food and dilutes acids in your mouth that could lead to acid erosion if not rinsed away.
Smile More Often
Want to relieve stress, strengthen your immune system and boost your mood? It’s easy! It’s been scientifically proven that a simple smile can help alleviate stress and make our days just a little brighter. If you are self-conscious about your smile, it may be time to make an appointment to discuss with your dentist how you can boost your self-confidence by chatting about your dental options.
We hope you add these to your New Year’s Resolutions list to lead you into a happier, healthier year. May 2018 bring healthy smiles to you and those you love!
