Simple Solutions for Brighter Smiles in Lafayette

Why Do My Teeth Look Yellow?

Certain drinks, such as coffee, tea, and red wine, and foods, such as tomato sauce, blueberries, and balsamic vinegar, leave trace stains on your tooth enamel. Over the years, these stains accumulate and leave your teeth looking dull and yellowish. Even with regular brushing, flossing, and professional cleanings, aging teeth generally do not look as bright as healthy young enamel.

Philips Zoom QuickPro Whitening Treatment

Dr. Gina Liggio Maestri, DDS is excited to announce that we now offer Philips Zoom QuickPro Whitening Treatments in our office!  The treatment only takes a few minutes, so any regular dental visit can turn into a whitening appointment!

The Facts

  • Philips Zoom QuickPro Whitening is best applied on clean teeth, so ask for it at your next regular cleaning and checkup appointment!
  • The treatment can transform your smile up to four shades whiter.
  • Philips Zoom QuickPro Whitening takes only 5 minutes to apply, giving you noticeable results in minimal time.

How does it work?

Through Philips breakthrough 2 layer technology, Dr. Maestri will apply a nearly invisible hydrogen peroxide layer, and then a sealant layer to lock in the whitening treatment. After the 5 minute application, you’re free to leave the office and carry on about your day.

Thirty minutes later, simply brush your teeth to remove whitening varnish and reveal your whiter, brighter smile. Patients should not drink or eat during the 30 minute waiting period, and should also avoid dark, potentially staining, drinks for 2 hours after treatment.

Am I a Candidate for Philips Zoom QuickPro Whitening?

Only three things are required to receive treatment.  Patients have to be at least 18 years old, in overall good health, and should not be pregnant or nursing. As with any healthcare treatment, results may vary patient to patient.

Options for Severe Stains

Stains that accumulate on the outer surfaces of your teeth are called extrinsic stains and, for the most part, can be easily removed using professional at-home whitening. Come severe stains, especially those that originate from within the tooth, do not respond to at-home whitening systems. For patients with severely discolored teeth resulting from tetracycline, root canal therapy, or excess exposure to fluoride, Dr. Gina Liggio Maestri DDS recommends dental bonding or porcelain veneers.
